Tomorrow, November 8, is national voting day for 2022. It is not the usual “midterm” election, given the intense interest about which political party will control the House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate.
In California, we are lucky to get our ballots mailed to us, so there is no inconvenience at all. But in case you live in another state, you may want to check on where you can vote and how in person. If have not already voted, you can find your polling place here — and if you want to learn more about the issues at stake, you can find information at the Pew Research report here.
There is a lot at stake this year, so be sure you vote and check to be sure everyone you know is also voting!
I have been texting voters about how to vote, where to vote, etc in Arizona, and I am overwhelmingly encouraged by the interest and the response. Yes there are the occasional nasty replies, to which I would love to be able to say — “would you talk to me this way if I were your grandmother”! — but we are trained to ignore and move on. The ability to help voters make their way through the maze of requirements in different states is quite challenging. California voters are lucky to get their ballots mailed and be able to mail them back or drop them off easily. The ballots themselves can be complicated enough without having to figure out where to send them.
Reach out to your neighbors to give them the information about how to vote too, not matter what state you are in.
