My Favorite Yogis, One Human, the other Canine

Yoga is a philosophy that encompasses the physical body as well as the  mind. It is a serious study and can help us reach higher levels of concentration and focus.

The goal of yoga is to reach a state of mind that is full of attention and devoid of distraction. It is composed of body postures which are tools to bring about a calmer,  more focused and attentive state of mind.

What stands out in this video is that two beings, one human, and the other canine are are able to do the asanas (body postures) together so beautifully. They are very  different physically, and in terms of their energy, mental,  emotional, and spiritual aspects. Nevertheless, something quite  wonderful happens as they join together in yoga, work and play.

The second video’s title says it all “Dog Days of summer”! When will August end?! Thanks for sending us this, Marian Hirsch.

  1. Loved the video of the dog doing yoga. Truly amazing how he learned to imitate what the gal is doing.

    1. Hi Fran, My theory is that we HIGHLY underestimate the intelligence of dogs and should be stimulating their minds more. Thank you for your comments.

  2. I wish my body could do yoga that well. Both videos showed what training a dog can do. Loved both.

    1. Sandi, So happy you enjoyed the human/dog yoga video. I’m curious if the dog experiences any of the meditative benefits of yoga. I hope so!

  3. Love this, Dinah! Have seen the part of the 1st video where the dog is on the yoga mat before, but not the entire video! ?. The only part I am not so sure about is having the dog help with the laundry… Freshly cleaned clothes then going in the mouth of a dog just doesn’t sit well with my germophobic brain! LOL! But that is certainly one smart and precious dog!

    1. Hi Debbie, I also recalled the extracted clip, and was so happy to come across this entire video. I think most dogs don’t get enough mental stimulation, but this one is a champion. Thanks for commenting, Dinah
