About Us

WE ARE PROUD AGING WOMEN BLOGGERS

Who are we and why did we decide to start a blog about aging women? We had hit our 80s with different goals, health, marital status, and life experiences. Our hope was to interact with others of our age and share and to learn from them. We believe that as a group we are stronger and happier when we stand together. Although our topics tend to be related to issues within our community here in the U.S., we welcome visitors and subscribers from all over the world. Please comment and interact with us!

We are in the process of migrating our site to Substack.com.  We will post on both sites until the migration is done. Please visit us at https://substack.com/@lindabergthold

LINDA

Linda was married for 63 years and has 3 grown kids and 4 grandkids. After an early career as an English teacher, she found her career passion in her 40s —health care—and embarked on a Ph.D. and 30 years of consulting. She has worked with large employers on their health benefits and in the Clinton White House on Health Reform.  She has blogged for Huffington Post and other sites.  She and her husband lived all over the world but several years ago made a decision to move to a continuing care retirement community in Southern California, a decision that has been filled with challenges and rewards, especially after the evacuation from the recent Eaton Fire. Gary died in 2024, and Linda is learning to live on her own, pursuing activities and goals that have been on hold for several years.

NANCY

Nancy left home in Richmond at 21 to find adventure and become a flight attendant in New York City where she met Tom her husband of 48 years.  It was love at first sight for Nancy when they met at a party in Manhattan.  This was the beginning of a path that took them from New York to Southern California.  They had a son and daughter, both now attorneys, and five grandchildren from 11 to 19.  They were both retired when Tom passed away much too soon in 2015.  New widows get lots of advice.  Nancy did it her way and remained in her home with her two dogs.  She had retired at 64 and begun years of volunteering in the senior community.  She was selected as the 2018 Senior of the Year in Thousand Oaks CA and continues her work as a Long Term Care Ombudsman for the County of Ventura.

OTHERS

From time to time we have other women (and men)  with an interesting voice join us in writing for this blog. When we started, our co-blogger Dinah Frishling joined and added to our posts about art and other topics of interest to her. As we have continued, writers like Sandy Conant Strachan, Kathleen Canrinus, and Steve Hansen have contributed, and we welcome others to join us.
